The Monsters took a 2-0 lead over Rochester on Saturday after the first period thanks to two goals from rookie Stefan Elliott. Evan Brophey gave Lake Erie a 3-0 lead midway through the second (assisted by Elliott). Monsters goalie Gerald Coleman’s possible shutout was broken at 11:25 of the third period; he finished the game with 29 saves on 30 shots in the win. Coleman has started 11 straight games in net, a Monsters franchise record. The Monsters have won eight of those games.
