Unlike Saturday, however, Lake Erie was able to find the back of the net first. Rob Drummond scored his first goal of the season unassisted at the 9:21 mark of the opening period. It took less than a minute for the home team to even the score. Steve Regier put the Rivermen on the board at 10:02, assisted by Charles Linglet and Jeff Woywitka. The teams went the remainder of the first with the score knotted at one goal apiece. Shortly into the second period, Ryan Reaves put Peoria ahead with his unassisted goal at the 2:59 mark. Nearly 10 minutes would go by with the score remaining 2-1, until Chris Conner pushed the Rivermen up by two at the 12:16 point of the middle frame. Trent Whitfield and Nikolay Lemtyugov assisted on the power play goal. The second period ended with the Rivermen leading 3-1. The Monsters got back on the board at 7:59 of the third on T.J. Hensick's power play goal, his fourth score of the season. Hensick has now recorded a point in five straight games, and leads Lake Erie with 11 points (4G, 7A) on the year. His unassisted goal pulled the Monsters to within one. After another 10 minutes of scoreless play, Regier struck again, increasing Peoria's lead to two again with his goal at the 17:32 mark of the third. His power play goal was assisted by Julian Talbot and Justin Fletcher. Whitfield sealed the 5-2 victory with his empty net goal with one minute remaining in the game, helped by Chris Porter and Wojwitka. Jason Bacashihua took the loss in goal for the Monsters, posting 23 saves on 27 shots faced. Peoria goaltender Chris Holt had 20 saves on 22 shots.
