The Monsters come into Tuesday’s game against the Peoria Rivermen riding a season-high four-game winning streak. In their most recent game, Sunday at Toronto, the Monsters set a franchise record with a seven-goal margin of victory in a 7-0 win against their North Division rivals, the Marlies.

On Monday, the American Hockey League announced that Monsters right wing Darren Haydar had been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week. In three games last week, the native of Milton, Ontario, registered eight points (5G, 3A) and was named first star of the game in two of the Monsters three consecutive victories.
Haydar has accounted for a large part of Lake Erie’s most recent success, as he’s notched 17 points (8G, 9A) in the past 11 games.

Aside from Haydar, Monsters center T.J. Hensick has also shouldered more than his share of the offensive load, as the former University of Michigan standout has registered nine assists in the past three games and 19 points (3G, 16A) in the past 11 games.

Tuesday’s game against Peoria will be a measuring stick of sorts for the Monsters. The Rivermen, with a 18-11-1-2 record, sit in second place in the West Division and are 8-2-0-0 in their past 10 games. So far this season, Lake Erie is 2-0-0-0 against Peoria. The Monsters picked up their first shootout win of the season against Peoria on October 30th at Quicken Loans Arena in a 5-4 contest before scaring away the Rivermen on October 31st in a 4-1 win.

The Tuesday tilt will be the last visit the Rivermen pay to Quicken Loans Arena in the regular season. The teams play each other three more times in the regular season with each contest to be held at Peoria Civic Center-Carver Arena. Tickets are still available for Tuesday’s game and can be purchased by calling (216) 420-0000, by visiting LakeErieMonsters.com or by visiting any Northern Ohio Discount Drug Mart.
