What's On Tap...Milwaukee MatchupTweet02/09/2010 10:51 AM
Opening the month of February with two wins in three games, the Monsters currently find themselves in fourth place in the North Division standings with 52 points and a 24-24-0-4 mark. At regular season’s end, the top four seeds in the North Division qualify for the playoffs. In their only game against the Admirals this season, the Monsters dropped a 3-2 shootout contest to Milwaukee on January 5th at Quicken Loans Arena. The Monsters hold an all-time mark of 3-0-1-1 against the Admirals. For the Monsters, Wednesday’s game may get a bit confusing while watching the opponent. Milwaukee’s Colin Wilson played for Monsters head coach David Quinn for two years at Boston University while forward Chris Mueller appeared in 59 games last season with Lake Erie. An area of exploitation for the Monsters will be the Admirals penalty kill. At a 79 percent success rate, Milwaukee’s penalty kill is 26th in the AHL. To go with their less-than-stellar penalty kill, Milwaukee has scored a league-low two shorthanded goals. Two areas of concern for the Monsters will be getting on the scoreboard first and containing Wilson. Currently, Wilson is on a four-game goal streak and a seven-game point streak which has seen the Milwaukee rookie forward put up 10 points (4G, 6A). The former Terrier also is third among league rookies with a 21.1 percent shooting percentage. When scoring first, the Admirals have gone 20-1-1-3, earning 45 of a possible 50 points. After Wednesday, the Monsters host the Hamilton Bulldogs at The Q on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before wrapping up their weekend with a 7:35 p.m. game Saturday in Rochester. Wednesday's game and every game this season will be broadcast on the Monsters flagship radio station, ESPN 850 WKNR. Listen Live on ESPN 850 WKNR | Watch here via AHL Live |
