Tonight the Monsters return to Quicken Loans Arena where they are 10-5-2-2. Lake Erie has won three of its last four home games. Twelve of Lake Erie’s next 13 outings will be played in friendly confines. Monsters and Barons Tonight the Monsters and Barons faceoff for the sixth and final meeting of this regular season series. When these two teams met just nine days ago in Oklahoma City, the Barons claimed a 5-1 win. In that game, the Barons grabbed an early 2-0 lead off power play goals from Colin McDonald and Alexandre Giroux. Ryan Stoa cut Lake Erie’s deficit in half before the end of the first period, scoring off assists from Julian Talbot and Matt Ford. The Barons went up 3-1 in the middle frame, before McDonald's second power play tally of the night at 3:45 of the third period. Giroux solidified first-star honors and a 5-1 game with an empty net goal at 16:38 of the third. Lake Erie went 0-for-5 on the power play in that game, while the Barons went 3-for-5. The Barons' three goals on the man advantage tied a season high for power play tallies against Lake Erie in a single game. John Grahame stopped 19 of 23 shots for the Monsters, while Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers went 20-for-21 in net for the Barons. Barons UpdateOklahoma City enters tonight’s contest with an overall record of 22-15-2-4. The Barons are 12-6-0-1 on the road and they ride a five-game point streak (4-0-1-0) into Quicken Loans Arena tonight. Alexandre Giroux leads the Barons with 47 points (20G, 27A) on the season, while Shawn Belle leads active Oklahoma City defenseman with 19 points (3G, 16A) in 34 games. In goal, Martin Gerber has appeared in 26 games for the Barons, posting a 14-10-2 record, 2.58 GAA, .916 save percentage and three shutouts. Road Trip Recap On Sunday, January 16th, Lake Erie wrapped up a season-high seven-game road trip and a three-in-three weekend set. On the road trip, the Monsters went 4-3-0-0, claiming wins over Texas (3-1, Jan. 8), Rochester (3-1 Jan. 14 and 6-4 Jan. 16) and Hershey (3-2 SO, Jan. 15), while their losses came against Houston (3-0, Jan. 7), Oklahoma City (5-1, Jan. 9) and Hamilton (3-2, Jan. 12). Three straight road wins marks a season high for the Monsters, while three consecutive overall wins ties a season high. Lake Erie improved its road record to 9-14-1-2 with four wins on the trip. Leading the Way Center Ben Walter has recorded two goals in his last two games and he leads the Monsters with 31 points this season. Patrick Rissmiller has recorded three points (1G, 2A) in his last three games. Mark Olver has collected five points (4G, 1A) in his last three games. With two goals in Sunday's win over Rochester, Olver marked his seventh multi-point game of the season. Julian Talbot leads the Monsters with 19 assists this season, including a three-game assist streak from January 9th-January 14th.
