03/20/2012 9:12 AM
SPECIAL OFFER JUST FOR INSIDERS: $2 FROM EACH TICKET PURCHASED THROUGH THIS OFFER WILL GO BACK TO NORTH COAST HEALTH MINISTRY (ON BEHALF OF KAISER PERMANENTE) AND STEWART'S CARING PLACE!
One of the most popular promotions on the schedule every season, Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters will be hosting their fourth annual “Pink the Rink” game this Saturday, March 24th, when they face the Toronto Marlies at 7:30 p.m. The Monsters and Kaiser Permanente are teaming up to encourage fans to join in their efforts to promote cancer awareness and support programs. A portion of the night’s proceeds will benefit North Coast Health Ministry (on behalf of Kaiser Permanente) and Stewart’s Caring Place of Akron.
As in every year for Pink the Rink, the team will be wearing unique pink jerseys, which will be auctioned off at the game in a silent auction. There will also be other items available for bid in the auction, including the opportunity to shave defenseman Barry Goers’ head after the game, as well as receive his game-worn pink jersey.
New this year, there will be two large pink ribbons painted into the ice!
There will also be a large banner on the concourse that – for a $1 per name donation - fans will be able to write the names of loved ones on that they wish to honor that have been affected by cancer. All donations collected through the banner signing will go back to North Coast Health Ministry and Stewart’s Caring Place. Everyone that donates will also receive a pink glow necklace (while supplies last).
In keeping with the theme of the night, fans will be able to enjoy pink food and drink options at select concessions stands, such as: strawberry blonde ice cream; pink lemonade; pink cotton candy; banana split Dippin’ Dots; pink desserts; and Pink the drink libations.
“We are proud to partner with the Monsters on this fun, yet important event to help save lives,” said Audra Kessler, Director Corporate Communications for Kaiser Permanente, noting that at the game, cancer survivors and their loved ones from Kaiser Permanente and throughout the arena will be recognized.
