The Monsters return home after a Texas road trip that saw the team record two shutouts and two victories in three games. The Monsters will host the Peoria Rivemen on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoon at one o'clock. Sunday, the Monsters will play the Abbotsford Heat for the first time in franchise history at 4:00 p.m.
Here are some other items to note before this weekend's games:
- The Monsters hold an all-time mark of 2-5-0-1 against the Rivermen. Last year, the two teams split the season series with each team winning two games in regulation.
- This weekend is the first two of six games to be played between Peoria and Lake Erie this season. The next time the two teams match up is December 29th at The Q.
- The Rivermen enter tonight's game in fifth place in the West Division, but are only four points out of the top spot.
- Peoria defenseman Jonas Junland is tied for second in the AHL among defensemen in scoring with 10 points. Junland is also tied for the lead among defenseman in power play goals (3), shootout goals (1), and goals (5).
- Sunday is the first meeting in franchise history between the Monsters and Abbotsford Heat. The game is the first of eight meetings this season between the clubs .
- Abbotsford is currently in fourth place in the North Division, but is only four points out of first place.
- The Heat are the most penalized team in the entire AHL so far this season, registering 402 penalty minutes.
- Lake Erie forward Darren Haydar enters tonight's game riding a five-game point streak.
