After leading Northern Michigan University in scoring for the past three seasons, it was time for center Mark Olver to take his game to the pro level.
Signed to an amateur tryout contract by the Monsters in late March, Olver recorded two goals in the Monsters final six games of the season.
Colorado’s fifth round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Olver posted 122 points (56G, 66A) in 119 games at Northern Michigan.
A native of Burnaby, British Columbia, Olver’s skill set includes a smooth stride, precise passing skills, stickhandling wizardry and a deft scoring touch around the net. The Monsters will expect that offensive production that was on display in college from Olver to carry over into the pro ranks when the 22-year-old makes hockey his full-time profession in the fall.
