Ritchlin, one of the most respected analysts in college hockey, has brought his expertise to Cleveland in covering televised Monsters games with Holden over the course of the past two seasons. “I’ve worked with a lot of different people in a lot of different sports, and I’ve had more success with Sean Ritchlin than anyone else I’ve ever worked with. Sean is without question the best college hockey analyst out there. We have a lot of fun and I enjoy it,” said Holden, who covered college games in Detroit, MI with Ritchlin for five years prior to joining the Monsters. While Holden has moved into his second season as the voice of the Monsters, he enjoys the opportunity to maintain his coverage of the NCAA Regionals, an event that highlights his annual calendar. “The Monsters give me great freedom to do this. It’s a great organization and they support everything we do as a family,” said Holden, who enjoys the unique passion and intensity of the college game, particularly at tournament time. “The excitement of the college game is great, and for a lot of these kids, it could be their last game. It’s all about the school and the uniform.” Holden and Ritchlin will cover the regional semifinal games on Friday, (Michigan vs. Nebraska-Omaha and Boston College vs. Colorado College), before calling the West Regional Championship on Saturday night. The winner of Saturday’s game will head to the Frozen Four in St. Paul, MN, on April 7th. West Regional games can be heard on ESPNU and ESPN3.com. While Holden travels to St. Louis, former Lake Erie broadcaster John Michael - who covered the Monsters during their first two seasons of existence, and now covers the Columbus Blue Jackets for FOX Sports Ohio - will voice the Monsters two-game road trip, which stops in Rochester on Friday and Toronto on Saturday. |
