Monsters End Road Swing Today in MILTweet01/15/2012 10:13 AM
Evan Brophey continued his hot play; he has three goals and 10 points since returning from a three-game stint with the Colorado Avalanche eight games ago. Hugh Jessiman notched one in the goal column, snapping a streak of three games in which he was unable to score. Ryan Stoa managed a goal and an assist, and proved once again that when he’s on the scoresheet, he has the ability to be a difference-maker for the Monsters; the club is 10-4-0-0 when Stoa registers a point. The Milwaukee Admirals are coming off a 2-1 victory over the Texas Stars in Milwaukee on Saturday night. Joel Champagne and Juuso Puustinen lit the lamp for the Admirals, who are three points back of both Chicago and Charlotte in the tightly-contested Midwest Division. The Monsters enter this afternoon’s tilt with a 4-4-0-1 record against the Midwest. A point of concentration for the Monsters will have to be the power play, which is in an 0-14 slump over the last three contests. Prior to the last three games, the Monsters had scored at least one power play goal in three straight contests, winning two of the three games. If Milwaukee has one weakness, it is the penalty kill, which could help the Monsters with the man-advantage. The Admirals are second-to-last on the penalty kill, with just a 77.3% success rate. The Monsters are 1-3-0-0 on their current swing of road games, which concludes this afternoon. It’s the first of two straight games against Milwaukee. All the action from the Bradley Center can be heard this afternoon on AM 1220 WHKW. The Monsters and Admirals will meet again on Thursday evening at Quicken Loans Arena. |
