The Season So Far... Brad Malone

Coming off a big weekend and looking at the final two games of  the regular season, the Lake Erie Monsters have won three straight to gain ground and continue pushing for a playoff spot. With two goals, including a game winner on Friday night against Rockford and another on Saturday, Monsters rookie forward Brad Malone has emerged as a vital member of the teams success.

Having seen time this season in the NHL with Colorado, Malone looks to keep building on a successful rookie season. While officially in his rookie season, Malone played three games for the Monsters last season during the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs.

Heading into a very tight playoff race, where every game is a must win, Malone's history of finding the net when the game is on the line will be especially valuable. Malone, who has 11 goals on the season, has scored five game winners.

Not only recognized for his ability to score in close games, Malone has been helping the Monsters win any way he can. When Brad Malone records a point the Monsters are 17-5-2-2 on the season. His 36 points is just four shy of his career record of 40 points in a season. He has already surpassed his previous career assists total of 16, having 25 helpers this season.

After having a career high of 13 multi-point games at University of North Dakota, Malone has followed that up with eight multi-point games in his first season with the Monsters and a point streak of three games, on three separate occasions.

Malone was a fifth round draft pick for the Colorado organization, playing in nine games for the Avalanche this season, with two helpers.

"Its a playoff mentality. We're playing for our lives right now." - Brad Malone
