Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters will officially begin the 2012-13 season when they open their sixth annual training camp on Wednesday, October 3rd.  In addition to daily practice, this year’s camp will also feature an intrasquad scrimmage as well as two preseason games against the Grand Rapids Griffins at regional neutral sites.

All practices are open to the public and will take place at the team’s official training facility, Hoover Arena at IceLand USA, in Strongsville.  The Monsters will practice Wednesday through Saturday before embarking for their back-to-back preseason games with Grand Rapids.

The team will play an intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday, October 4th, at 7:00 p.m. at Hoover.  Tickets for the event will be available at the door for a $2 per person donation to the Monsters Community Fund, which supports Northeast Ohio programs that positively impact the areas of education, youth hockey, health & wellness and basic needs.

The Monsters and Griffins will meet on Saturday, October 6th (6:00 p.m.) in Toledo, Ohio at the Huntington Center. They will play again the following day at Yost Arena on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (7:00 p.m.).

The Monsters will then open their sixth season at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday, October 12th against Oklahoma City at 7:30 p.m.  The first 10,000 fans to the game will receive a free Monsters magnetic schedule (courtesy of Parma Community General Hospital), plus it will be the first Dollar Dog Friday of the season, featuring one dollar hot dogs and one dollar sodas, courtesy of Pepsi and Sugardale.  There will also be a free postgame open skate.
