Our Own Form of Visiting HoursTweet03/03/2008 12:10 PM
The patients of St. John West Shore Hospital were filled with joy recently when the Lake Erie Monsters stopped by for their own “visiting hours.”
Several of the Monsters – Dan DaSilva, Mark McCutcheon, Wes O’Neill, Kenny Roche and Steve Margeson – brightened the day of patients by making stops in their rooms to encourage speedy recoveries. They were also joined by play-by-play broadcaster John Michael and mascot Sullivan C. Goal. The players visited several areas of the hospital, including the pediatrics, hip and knee replacement, and coronary care units. They took time to interact with the patients and listen to their stories. The Monsters came prepared with a hat and blanket for each patient. Most importantly, they brought smiles, which patients can wear to a Monsters game when they are in good health. The players finished their rounds and headed down to the cafeteria to sign autographs for hospital employees. Staff members were encouraged to bring their own family and friends to meet the team and pose for pictures. As the visit came to an end, it was clear that this experience was just as rewarding for the Monsters as it was for the patients. |
