The Monsters play games four and five of their nine game road trip this weekend, as they are in New England to play the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday before traveling to New Hampshire to play the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday. The games this weekend are the second and final contests of the regular season against both teams. The first game against Hartford, November 16th at Quicken Loans Arena, resulted in a 5-3 Wolf Pack win. The game was the first between the clubs in franchise history. In the game, Hartford was led by forward P.A. Parenteau, who recorded two goals, two assists and was named first star of the game. Lake Erie’s goals came from Ray Macias, Peder Skinner and Kyle Cumiskey, while goaltender Jason Bacashihua made 32 saves on 37 Hartford shots. Defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti, the Rangers first round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, scored the game-winning goal with 23 seconds left in the second period while the Wolf Pack received a 23-save effort from goaltender Mikka Wiikman in the win. After Friday’s game in Hartford, the Monsters will spend Valentine’s Day in New Hampshire, taking on the Monarchs for the second and final time this season. In the first game against Manchester this season, the Monsters lost in the shootout, despite receiving a 27-save effort through regulation and overtime from netminder Tyler Weiman. Monarchs forward Justin Azevedo scored the lone goal in the shootout to give Manchester the 1-0 win. Lake Erie will continue on the road after their weekend games in New England, as the team will travel west to Iowa to play the Chops on Monday at 8:05. So far this season, Lake Erie is 0-1-1 against the Chops. *************************************************************************Saturday is Hockey Night in Cleveland, presented by Labatt Blue Hey Monsters fans, this Saturday and every Saturday night game at The Q is Hockey Night in Cleveland, presented by Labatt Blue.
