The unquestioned leader both on and off the ice for the Monsters in the 2009-10 season, forward Brian Willsie wore the captain’s “C” for the second consecutive year in Cleveland.
A veteran of 380 NHL games, Willsie set a franchise record, netting 26 goals last season. Willsie’s 12 power play tallies tied a franchise mark set by current Colorado Avalanche forward and former Monster David Jones, who accomplished that feat in 2007-08.
Hailing from London, Ontario, Willsie finished third on the team with 57 points (26G, 31A) and his 26 power play points (12G, 14A) were second only to T.J. Hensick.
Willsie also tied Darren Haydar for the team lead with four game-winning goals in the 2009-10 season and was third on the club with 17 multi-point games.
