On Sunday, October 24th, the Monsters concluded a seven-game road swing in which they posted a 2-4-0-1 mark. Lake Erie began the trip with a 2-1 shootout win in Syracuse on October 9th, and after a week off, the Monsters played six games in nine days against four different teams: October 16 at Oklahoma City Barons, 4-3 L October 17 at San Antonio Rampage, 3-2 SOL October 19 at Oklahoma City Barons, 3-0 L October 20 at San Antonio Rampage, 4-2 L October 22 at Texas Stars, 3-2 L October 24 at Houston Aeros, 3-2 W Lake Erie will only play seven consecutive games away from The Q one other time this season (Jan. 7-16, 2011). During the road trip, the Monsters were led by forwards Greg Mauldin and Matt Ford. Maudlin collected five points (3G, 2A), along with 26 shots on goal, while he was named third star of the game twice (Oct. 22 at Texas and Oct. 24 at Houston). Ford also notched five points (3G, 2A), while recording 27 shots and a plus-1 rating through the seven games. Center Mark Olver, who was reassigned by Colorado on October 19th, contributed two goals in his three games since joining the Monsters, while Ben Walter notched his first points of the season with a goal and two assists on the trip. Goaltender John Grahame started four of the seven games for Lake Erie and currently holds a record of 2-2-0-0 with a 2.46 GAA. Jason Bacashihua made three starts during the trip and with a win on October 8th against Syracuse, his overall record stands at 1-2-1 with a 2.47 GAA. Following Sunday’s 3-2 victory in Houston, Lake Erie broadcaster Ben Holden recapped the win and the team’s road trip.
