Tonight the Monsters face off against the Chicago Wolves for the fourth and final time of the regular season. On Saturday, December 4th, Lake Erie will host the Peoria Rivermen for the first matchup of the season between the two teams. The Monsters enter this weekend with an 11-9-2-2 record, including a 6-3-2-1 mark on home ice.
Monsters vs. Wolves Tonight Lake Erie will host the Chicago Wolves for a 7:30 p.m. face off at The Q. The Monsters will look for their first win of the season against the Wolves, as Lake Erie has posted a 0-2-1-0 mark against Chicago this season. On November 5th, Lake Erie dropped a 6-5 overtime decision to the Wolves at The Q. After the Monsters set a season high with three power play goals in the first period, the two teams traded goals, twice, before Chicago went on a four-goal run. In that outburst, former Monster Darren Haydar recorded a natural hat trick, including the overtime winner with less than a second left in the extra session. The Monsters traveled to Allstate Arena on November 21st and fell by a 5-2 count. In that game, it was Andre Deveaux who recorded a hat trick for Chicago, including the eventual game winner at 8:51 of the second period. Mark Olver scored both Lake Erie goals, including a power play tally at 2:23 of the second period. On November 23rd, the Wolves hosted Lake Erie for a rematch at Allstate Arena, taking a 6-3 win for their third consecutive victory over the Monsters. In that game, the Monsters surrendered a season high for shots in a game (46) and in a period (22). Matt Ford scored twice for the Monsters, while defenseman Ray Macias assisted on both. The Monsters enter this weekend’s action on a four-game home point streak (3-0-1-1). With a 93.7% efficiency, Lake Erie’s home penalty killing unit is the best in the AHL. Only four power play goals have been scored against the Monsters at The Q this season. Tonight's game will be broadcast live on AM 1220 WHKW and AHL Live. Rollin’ with the Rivermen On Saturday, December 4th, the Monsters will face off against the Peoria Rivermen at 7:30 p.m. Last season, the Monsters posted a 3-3-0-0 record against Peoria, including a 2-1-0-0 mark at The Q. Peoria will play in Hamilton tonight, before wrapping up a four-game road swing in Cleveland on Saturday. On Wednesday, December 1st, the AHL announced Peoria’s Jake Allen as the Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month for November. Through seven appearances in November, Allen posted a 6-1-0 record with three shutouts, a 1.35 GAA and a .959 save percentage. The Rivermen are 14-7-1-1 heading into Friday’s action.
