Season Rewind...Ben Walter

Lake Erie captain Ben Walter netted 23 goals and dished out 47 assists to tie a franchise record (T.J. Hensick, 2009-10) with 70 points during the 2010-11 season.

Centering the Monsters’ top line between Greg Mauldin and David van der Gulik, Walter’s 47 helpers were the most among any Lake Erie player this year, while he also led the team in multi-point games (14), power play assists (18), power play points (23) and plus/minus rating (+26).

His 158 shots ranked second on the club (Matt Ford, 193) and his 23 goals tied for second best (Mark Olver) among Lake Erie scorers.

Walter, who has played parts of the last six seasons in the AHL, finished ninth in the league’s scoring race this season.

In his final 24 games of the regular season, Walter recorded seven goals and 26 assists, while he was held off the score sheet just twice during that stretch.

A native of Beaconsfield, Quebec, Walter was signed by Colorado as a free agent on July 7, 2010.
