Chicago got on the board first on Thursday, but Greg Mauldin tied it up 34 seconds left with his goal at 8:53 of the first period.
The Wolves scored again midway through the second period, again on the power play, to take a 2-1 lead that would last until the final minutes of the third.
Former Monster Darren Haydar scored on an empty net at 18:26 of the third period to make it 3-1 in favor of Chicago, before Patrick Rissmiller added a Monsters goal with four seconds left, resulting in the 3-2 (Chicago) final score.
Cedrick Desjardins finished with 29 saves on 31 shots.
