Painting the Town at Archbishop Lyke

It was a beautiful Monday morning as more than 200 cheering Archbishop Lyke students and staff welcomed executives from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lake Erie Monsters and AkzoNobel in celebration of winning the 2012 “Colorful Community Contest.” The makeover allowed this Cleveland school to have their hallways, gymnasium and cafeteria repainted by the experts at Glidden Paint, making them fresher, brighter and more colorful! As a token of their appreciation, the students of Archbishop presented the executives with three handcrafted, larger-than-life Thank You cards.

Cleveland Cavaliers, Lake Erie Monsters and AkzoNobel, along with Archbishop Lyke School, Bissell Elementary School and Clark K-8 School were chosen by the Cavs and Monsters to vie for the opportunity to win the “Colorful Community Contest” makeover. For two weeks, fans were able to visit or to view each school’s submission and show support for the most deserving school by voting. With more than 37,000 votes from across the country and all over the world, the final breakdown of voting was as follows:

Archbishop Lyke School – 20,402 votes Bissell Elementary School – 15,792 votes Clark K-8 School – 971 votes

After a brief press conference congratulating Archbishop for their hard work, students were entertained by the Cavs dynamic dance troupe, the Scream Team. The morning festivities wrapped up with a “Colorful Timeout,” where students hurried back to their classrooms to create vibrant crafts alongside Cavs mascot Sir C.C, Monsters mascot Sully, Cavs Girls, Scream Team and executives.
