Although the Lake Erie Monsters will not field a team until the fall, the organization already has one hockey veteran on its roster. Former Cleveland Lumberjack Jock Callander was named the Director of Hockey & Community Relations for the new AHL franchise in December. The IHL all-time scoring leader is ecstatic to be back in Cleveland, and will routinely check in with lakeeriemonsters.com to catch us up on what's going on in the land of the Monster...
Hello fans,
The summer is moving fast and we are closing in on the season. We have less than two months until the Monsters home opener, so it was a good time to take a little vacation before The Q gets too crazy!
My kids and I headed back home to
Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada for a week to visit my family. It was great to see my Mom, Dad, brother and sister and their families. We spent four days at our cottage enjoying the water, skiing, tubing and swimming. We went to a Country Jamboree that Gretchen Wilson and Big and Rich were playing at. I also played some golf with Dad and my brother Drew.
Dave Michayluk (former Lumberjack teammate) came down to the cottage for an afternoon to visit and play some cribbage. It was great to see him, and is something we usually try to make a yearly thing. We also spent some time visiting relatives and some friends I grew up with. We had a great week of weather, not one bad day, which is certainly not always the case up in Saskatchewan!
Even though I was away from work, I still found a morning to head to a hockey rink to watch a friend teach a skating class.
It's great to visit family and friends, and although the visits always seem short, it was nice to get home to
Cleveland . I am re-energized and ready for a great season of Monsters hockey!
Until next time,
Jock
