Left Wing Chris Durno

The best way to lead is by example, and Monsters captain Chris Durno did just that, pacing the Monsters in goals (18), power play goals (7), power play points (15), games played (76) and penalty minutes (131). A native of Scarborough, Ontario, the rugged captain dropped the gloves just as readily as he would chip in on the score sheet. 

Like 10 of his teammates, Durno made his NHL debut this season with Lake Erie’s parent club, the Colorado Avalanche. In two games in the NHL, Durno registered three shots. Durno came to the organization via free agency, as Colorado signed him on July 3, 2008.
 

Highlights:

• October 12th, 2008: Registered his first multi-point game (2A) in 4-3 win against Toronto.
 
• October 22nd, 2008: Recorded first goal as a Monster in 4-3 win against Milwaukee.

• November 23rd, 2008: Recorded third multi-point game of the season (1G, 1A) in 4-2 win against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

• December 17th, 2008: Notched fourth multi-point game of the season (2G, 1A) in 5-4 shootout loss at Toronto.

• January 18th, 2009: Appeared in first NHL game against the Calgary Flames.

• February 28th, 2009: Recorded seventh multi-point game (2A) of the season; scored the game-winning goal in the shootout; named first star of the game.

• March 8th, 2009: Registered eighth multi-point game and fifth multi-assist game (2A) of the season in 6-3 win against Hershey; named third star of the game.

• March 28th, 2009: Recorded ninth multi-point game of the season (1G, 1A) in 8-5 loss against Syracuse.
