In this edition of "Get to Know", we cover rookie defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.  Last season, Shattenkirk completed his junior year at Boston University before suiting up for three games with the Monsters. This season, the former Avalanche first round pick looks to have a big rookie year, and hopes to help the Monsters reach their first playoff berth.

How does it feel to play in front of great fans, and what can that mean for a game?: Playing in front of a loud crowd gets you pumped up and even more excited to play a game.

What is your favorite way to relax on a non-game day?: I like to play video games, maybe see a movie.

Describe a pre-game ritual you like to go through to prepare for a game: I like to listen to rap or techno music, I'll stretch out, and sometimes play a little soccer.

Who was your favorite hockey team and player while growing up?: I was a fan of the New York Rangers, and Brian Leetch was my favorite player.

Could any of your Monster teammates be a celebrity look-a-like?: Kevin Montgomery looks like Big Ernie McCracken (played by Bill Murray) from the movie Kingpin.
