Monsters Host Marlies, Aeros this Weekend

After a pair of midweek games in Abbotsford, B.C., the Monsters return to Quicken Loans Arena to host the Toronto Marlies and the Houston Aeros this weekend. Lake Erie is undefeated against both teams, as they’ve posted wins of 4-1 and 2-1 over Toronto, along with a 3-2 victory in their lone meeting with Houston this season.

Monsters vs. Marlies, 7:30 p.m. Saturday

The last time these two teams met, the Marlies entered The Q on a 6-0-0-3 streak but were cooled off by a 2-1 loss to the Monsters. In that November 19th meeting, the Monsters used goals from Ryan Stoa and Mike Carman to climb out of a one-goal deficit and claim their third consecutive win in North Division play.

The Marlies have since put together a 6-3-0-0 run, including a two-game sweep of the Abbotsford Heat last weekend. Five of those six Toronto wins were consecutive, but they’ve been handed a pair of 5-1 losses in their most recent two outings (Chicago, Dec. 5; Wilkes-Barre Scranton, Dec. 8).

Lake Erie is 10-12-2-4 overall, 6-2-0-2 in the North Division and 7-3-2-2 on home ice.

Toronto enters the contest with an overall record of 14-10-0-3, while they are a modest 6-7-0-1 in the North Division and 8-3-0-3 on the road.

The Marlies are lead by center Justin Hodgman, who has 16 points (7G, 9A) in 23 games this season.

Both teams will be idle on Friday, December 10th.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN 850 and AHL Live. Click here for tickets or call (216) 420-0000.

The Aeros will host the San Antonio Rampage on Friday, December 10th.

Sunday’s game will kick off a five-game road trip for Houston.
