Shield Against Bullying

FOR STUDENTS:

Rules against Bullying:

  • We will not bully others
  • We will try to help students who are being bullied
  • We will include students who are easily left out
  • When we know someone is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home
 

FOR PARENTS:

Signs to watch for:

  • Withdrawal/depression
  • Suddenly doesn’t want to go to school
  • Bruises
  • Drop in grades
  • Need extra money or supplies

How to Respond:

  • Talk to your child seriously
  • Talk to your child’s teacher or the bully’s parents
  • Teach nonviolent ways to deal with the situations
  • Help your child act with self confidence

What can Parents do?  

  • Talk frequently with your children or teacher about problems associated with mean and hurtful behavior
  • If you see it- intervene immediately and support the student who has been bullied
  • Engage and empower the bystanders
  • Impose immediate and appropriate consequences
  • Take steps to ensure student will be protected from future bullying by talking with teacher and principal
