Goaltending Coach

On July 30th, 2013, the Lake Erie Monsters announced the addition of new goaltending coach Jean-Ian Filiatrault to the coaching staff. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Filiatrault attended St. Laurent University for four years before making his debut as a pro in the 1991-92 season with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL.

The former goalie has over 10 years of playing experience, including stops in the CHL, ECHL, WCHL, France, and LNAH. Filiatrault was awarded the CHL’s Goaltender of the Year Trophy for his outstanding play in the 1995-96, 1996-97, and 1998-99 seasons. He also earned the CHL President’s Trophy in the 1995-96 season given to the player deemed to be the key player in the playoffs as selected by the media.

After retiring from playing, Filiatrault coached goaltenders in the Anaheim Ducks organization and most recently with the Toronto Maple Leafs, before joining the Monsters for the 2013-14 season.
