Phil Simon

Assistant Equipment Manager

A self-proclaimed rink rat, Phil Simon returns for his sixth season as assistant equipment manager of the Lake Erie Monsters. But the 2012-13 season is far from his sixth in the sport of hockey.

In 1950, Simon became the visiting team stick and equipment assistant for a decade before holding the position of goal judge for the Cleveland Barons from 1960 – 1994. In 1996, Phil took the position of assistant equipment manager with the Cleveland Lumberjacks and his passion for the game has yet to be matched.

Phil lives in Wickliffe, Ohio, with his wife, Rita. They have four children: sons Chris, Jeff and Phil, and daughter, Susan. The couple also has four grandchildren: Alex, Joe, Phillip and Isabelle.
