Mo' nsters Growing Moustaches for Mens Health
This Movember, some of your Monsters have committed their upper lip to help change the face of men's health by growing a moustache! The Movember Foundation is the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health.
We are passionate about this cause because too many men are dying unnecessarily from prostate cancer. In 2014, more than 233,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. The Movember Foundation is working tirelessly with an urgent goal in mind: accelerating breakthroughs in prostate cancer research that will benefit patients and their families. Movember is achieving this with the formation of the largest, global alliance of prostate cancer researchers and clinical specialists, who are tackling the toughest prostate cancer challenges.
We need your support to fund this important work. Together, we can create a world where no man dies of prostate cancer.
To help support this cause, the players have found some motivation in facing off against each other in a friendly competition to see who can raise more money! There are two teams, captained by Bruno Gervais & Calvin Pickard. We are also proud to be working in conjunction with the Cleveland Cavaliers to help raise money and awareness for this great cause!
UH Parma Medical Center and the Lake Erie Monsters have teamed up in support of the “Movember” men’s health initiative and prostate cancer awareness.
Men, do you know your stats?
One in seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in men.
That is why it is important for men 50 and over to have annual prostate cancer screenings.
Men who are at a higher risk should begin at age 40. These include those having family members who have suffered from prostate cancer and African-American men.
Take the Movember pledge and schedule your screening. For more details visit UHParma.org/Movember.
